LightBuckets Announces SkyView Interactive Planning Tool
October 29, 2008
Introducing LightBuckets SkyView. SkyView is your online sky catalog, visual target selector, and interactive target framing tool. You will find SkyView in the LightBuckets Full Control interface in the target selection area as well as the imaging plan setup.
Select from one of four zoom levels to view the sky in more or less detail. At zoom level 4 Just drag and drop the red circle on your target or the area of the sky you want to select. You can also enter your target name or coordinates above and the target indicator will move to that part of the sky. While you're zoomed in, you can click and drag to move the sky under the field of view indicator for your selected telescope.
To frame your target precisely, simply rotate the field of view indicator to any angle you choose, or you can click on one of the precalculated guide stars to have the field of view automatically rotate to the correct angle.
The lightly shaded area showing the altitudes indicates where the telescope is capable of pointing. The red circle represents your currently targeted area or object, but not the exact field of view for your imaging run. Zoom in to precisely set your field of view. The green circle (if visible) shows where the telescope is currently pointed.
We hope you find this new interactive planning tool both helpful and fun to use. Please be sure to give us your comments...good or bad.
