LightBuckets Customer Images Astronomy.com Picture of the Day
March 04, 2009

Long time LightBuckets customer Andy Macica has been recognized for his work by Astronomy Magazine. On March 2nd, Andy's image of Eta Carinae (NGC 3372) was featured as Astronomy.com's Picture of the Day. This is an outstanding honor for Andy who used the LightBuckets 14.5RC (LB-0004) in Australia to capture his data. Andy's growing expertise in image processing did the real work though in really pulling out some fine details from the data. To see Andy's impressive and growing collection of images here on LightBuckets visit his image gallery. His Eta Carinae image is also viewable on Astronomy.com. Congratulations Andy...keep up the great work!

Steve, Thankyou for the follow-up. LightBuckets has provided real value to my experience in Astronomy. Quite simply I can apply the techniques and skills I have developed over the years to the premium equipment and ideal locations provided by LightBuckets. The results speak for itself. The quality of my images are better because of the equipment and locations provided by LightBuckets. Winter in California is the rainy season. So my ability to do winter objects in the past was hampered by poor weather conditions. With LightBuckets this is no longer the case. When the weather is poor in California it is typically excellent in New Mexico or Austrailia. Finally I've tested the quick reaction capability of LightBuckets for special events such as supernovas and comets reported through Calsky. The ability to quickly image an event shortly after it is reported is something I have only been able to do with LightBuckets. It requires specail planning and tools. It also depends on the availability of a LightBuckets observatory, but I have been successful on several occasions. Thankyou for your service. Andy Macica
